Leeds want to sign available 26y/o forward with 120 PL apps, demands £100k-a-wk deal – reports

Leeds United have joined the race to sign free agent Ryan Fraser following his exit from Bournemouth, according to 90min.

The football news website claims that Arsenal and Tottenham have pulled out of the race to sign the 26-year-old, who rejected the chance to sign a short-term contract extension at Bournemouth before they were relegated from the Premier League.

However, Fraser is not short of suitors despite this.

90min adds that Crystal Palace, West Ham, Newcastle, Brighton, West Brom and Fulham also want to see the Scottish forward.

Fraser has plenty of Premier League experience and has shown in the past that he can be an asset for top-flight clubs.

Although he failed to impress last season as the Cherries were relegated, in the 2018/19 season he scored seven goals and supplied 14 assists in Premier League appearances.

Fraser has 11 caps for Scotland and 120 Premier League appearances to his name but do Leeds need him? No, they don’t.

Fraser plays predominantly on the left-wing.

Leeds completed a loan deal to re-sign Jack Harrison this week while Marcelo Bielsa also has Ezgjan Alioski and Stuart Dallas at his disposal to play on the left-hand side of the attack while Tyler Roberts and Helder Costa can do jobs there too.

Fraser might be up for grabs for free but we doubt that his wage demands will be low.

In fact, The Times reported in June that Fraser wants a deal worth more than £100,000-a-week from the next club he signs with.

As good as he was a couple of years ago, we wouldn’t be happy to see the club splash that kind of money who abandoned Bournemouth when they needed him most.

We’d much rather see Bielsa promoted young players from the Under-23s than sign money-grabbers like Fraser.

In other Leeds United news, the club is eyeing up this Nottingham Forest star.
