Leeds want to sign £16m forward Daniel Farke claims can be ‘top goalscorer in Premier League’
Leeds are reportedly monitoring Norwich City forward Josh Sargent ahead of the January transfer window.
Sargent, 25, has scored six goals in 13 appearances across all competitions for Norwich this season. However, all of those strikes came in August and he’s not found the back of the net since.
Leeds have regularly been linked with Sargent while Daniel Farke has been in charge at Elland Road.
Farke signed the USA international for Norwich from Werder Bremen in 2021 during his time at Carrow Road for £8million.
Norwich wanted £16million for Sargent in the summer transfer window, such is his importance at the East Anglia club.

What Daniel Farke has said about Josh Sargent
After now-Leeds manager Farke signed Sargent four years ago, the ex-Werder Bremen forward has gone on to score 54 goals and supply 13 assists in 146 appearances in all competitions.
Only two of those goals and one of those assists were made in the Premier League. However, it’s fair to say that the Missouri-born striker was still young and raw at that point.
Over the years in the Championship, he’s matured into a much more prolific goalscorer, something Farke tipped him to become in the beginning.
Josh Sargent’s profile:
- Age: 25
- Position: Centre-forward
- USA record: 29 caps, 5 goals
- Premier League record: 2 goals, 26 apps
- Championship record: 46 goals, 110 apps
- Bundesliga record: 11 goals, 70 apps
Speaking in 2021 when Sargent touched down in Norwich, Farke said: “Josh has a lot of experience in the top level in the Bundesliga in Germany and has been there with many goals and assists. He has also scored goals for his national team.
“He’s a very good striking option for us but is someone who can also play on the wing. He has pace and is also good with his head. We know he is always there with a big workload and has a fantastic character.
“We know we have to be a bit more creative in the transfer market. We think we have a player in Josh who can contribute and develop into a top goalscorer on Premier League level. We see his potential and are delighted to have him with us.”

What’s the latest speculation on Josh Sargent’s move to Leeds?
According to Leeds United News, Sargent is someone of interest at Elland Road ahead of the January transfer window.
Coventry City’s Haji Wright is also said to be a target after Leeds looked at him in the summer.
It seems there’s still a push to add more Americans to the ranks at Leeds United, potentially because 49ers Enterprises want to increase the Yorkshire club’s profile in their home nation.
That’s understandable. However, Brenden Aaronson hasn’t exactly worked out as well as many would have hoped, while the less said about former manager Jesse Marsch, the better.

Sargent’s poor form is definitely a worry as he’s not scored in his last eight appearances.
Norwich’s season, as a whole, has been poor so far, with manager Liam Manning under a lot of pressure to keep his job at Carrow Road.
But last term, Sargent was Norwich’s player of the season as he bagged 15 goals in 32 Championship games.
There’s no doubt that in the right system and with a manager who already knows him, he could also flourish in the Premier League.
