Leeds want to seal Tochukwu Nnadi transfer as advanced talks revealed

Leeds are still looking to add more players to their ranks in the winter transfer window.

Leeds managed to welcome 10 new arrivals to Elland Road this summer, although they have only made two signings in January so far.

Facundo Buonanotte joined Leeds on loan from Brighton, while Leonard Ngenge’s signing is seen as one for the future.

The most notable exit of the window is Jack Harrison’s loan move to Fiorentina, which will last until the end of the season, and the Italian side has the option to buy him for £6million.

Zulte Waragem midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi has now emerged as a potential option for Leeds, although they face a lot of competition to secure his signature.

West Ham the frontrunners to sign Leeds target Tochukwu Nnadi

The Nigerian international featured once during AFCON, coming on as a substitute in the 3-1 win over Uganda on 30 December.

SportsBoom has reported that Leeds are interested in Nnadi, although West Ham have begun talks with his representatives over personal terms for the 22-year-old midfielder.

Nnadi is also attracting interest from across the Premier League, with Brighton, Newcastle, and Crystal Palace all understood to be monitoring his progress in Belgium.

Clubs in Germany and Spain are also keeping a close watch, although West Ham are believed to be the most advanced in talks right now.

The Hammers are prepared to offer him a five-year contract, and Leeds need to act quickly if they want to remain in the race.

The tough-tackling midfielder would undoubtedly provide cover for Ethan Ampadu, and he could develop into a top-quality player.

While Nnadi is undoubtedly talented, perhaps the Whites need to focus on strengthening other positions in the team.

Leeds shouldn’t prioritise adding depth to their midfield

It’s clear that defensive reinforcements are needed, given Jaka Bijol’s hamstring injury, and Jayden Oosterwolde has emerged as a target.

However, Leeds’ issues stretch further than that, with Gabriel Gudmundsson currently the only natural left wing-back in the first team.

With Daniel Farke’s side now playing a 3-5-2 formation, they must have substantial cover at centre-back.

It could be argued that Leeds may also need another striker.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin yet to have a consistent strike partner alongside him, the Peacocks still have some goalscoring issues.

Lukas Nmecha is reliable when fit, but the signing of Noah Okafor hasn’t panned out, and if Leeds do sell Joel Piroe, then they’ll have a gap in their squad to fill.
