Leeds want to seal Dovbyk transfer as £30m-plus striker deal on cards
Leeds are planning a swoop for AS Roma striker Artem Dovbyk.
Daniel Farke is desperate for attacking reinforcements as there are concerns about Joel Piroe’s ability to cut it in the Premier League.
The German has already informed Patrick Bamford that he is not in his plans for the new season and Mateo Joseph is also heading for the exit door.
Lukas Nmecha was signed as a free agent, but there is a feeling that the Whites need more firepower if they are going to survive.

Leeds to continue spending spree with Dovbyk transfer
The Elland Road outfit have already spent approximately £74million, but they need to strengthen further if they are to have any chance of staying up.
A report from La Gazzetta Dello Sport (page 18, 29 July) claims that the Whites are interested in the Ukrainian forward.
It states that Roma’s asking price will be around £30.3m because they signed him for a similar amount last summer.

Dovbyk would be a great signing for Leeds
The 28-year-old is a proven goalscorer in the elite leagues, notching 12 goals and two assists in 32 Serie A matches last season.
In La Liga in the 2023/24 campaign, he bagged 24 goals and eight assists in 36 games with Girona, which earned him the move to the Italian capital.
Stats | Girona (23/24) | Roma (24/25) |
Matches | 36 | 32 |
Goals | 24 | 12 |
Assists | 8 | 2 |
Minutes played | 2,605 | 2,430 |
It seems like he may be on the move again, and the evidence suggests that he is capable of adapting the his new surroundings quickly and firing in goals.
The 49ers Enterprises have done an excellent job of backing Farke so far in the transfer window, but a deal for the Roma forward may well be their best business yet.
Whether they can get a deal over the line remains to be seen, but it is an encouraging sign that they are in the market for a top-quality forward.
They have been linked with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Nikola Krstovic, but they would be a huge gamble considering what is at stake for the LS11 outfit.
The gap between the established top-flight clubs and the promoted ones is already at an all-time high; signing Dovbyk would help them bridge that and give them a real chance of survival.
