Leeds want to blow Borussia Dortmund out of water to sign winger amid £10.1m news

Leeds United desperately need to strengthen their squad this summer if they are to compete for survival in the Premier League next term.

Daniel Farke’s side raced to the Championship title last term, but must add greater top-level experience to the squad in order to effectively make the jump to the top flight next season.

The 49ers are expected to back Farke strongly in the transfer market, but with concerns over their PSR standing, they must be sensible with their money.

Leeds are set for £10.1m battle with Dortmund for Mainz’s Anthony Caci

There are expected to be plenty of new additions at Elland Road this summer, as Leeds attempt to bridge the gap between the Championship and the Premier League.

One player who they have already been heavily linked with is Mainz’s Anthony Caci.

The Frenchman primarily operated in a wing-back role in the Bundesliga last season, but possesses the capability to play higher up the pitch or as a full-back. He notched seven assists in what was an impressive individual campaign.

As a result, it comes as no surprise that he is being chased by Borussia Dortmund, as well as Leeds and Fulham in the Premier League, and French outfit Rennes.

The 27-year-old is out of contract at Mainz at the end of next season, meaning his current club could be open to a potential sale. It is also thought that Caci could be available for a fee in the region of £10.1million, according to the print edition of BILD Frankfurt (10 June, pg. 12).

Caci would be a good addition for Leeds

One of Leeds’ main priorities in the transfer market this summer will revolve around adding top-level experience to the side, and that is something that Caci can provide plenty of.

The Frenchman became a first-team candidate at a very young age with his boyhood club, Strasbourg, and he has since played out almost his entire career in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga.

He has improved year upon year over the course of his three seasons in Germany so far, which culminated in the most productive season of his senior career last time out, in terms of goal contributions.

Caci appears to be a player who is ready to make the step up to the next level, and a move to the Premier League could certainly achieve that.

From the Whites’ perspective, at a little over £10m, he could be a very shrewd alternative to some of the other wide options available on the market this summer.
