Leeds want to agree multi-million deal for new player this week after Bielsa order – report
Leeds United want to agree a £10million deal with Rangers this week for attacker Ryan Kent after Marcelo Bielsa ordered the club to make a host of new signings, according to The Sun.
The newspaper reports that the Whites have made a “shock” move to sign the 23-year-old – even though they add that Bielsa is a big fan of him and has made two attempts in the past to sign him.
It’s hardly a shock if that is the case with Kent seeming as though he’s linked with a move to Elland Road every summer.
However, he has impressed north of the border in Scotland, winning the young player of the season award in 2018/19 while on loan at Rangers from Liverpool.
Bielsa was reported to have personally scouted Kent after that loan spell at Ibrox ended but Rangers eventually re-signed the attacker in a deal worth £7million.
Before that permanent move to Rangers was sealed, Jurgen Klopp was quoted by the Daily Record as hailing Kent as a “wonderful player”.
If that is what Klopp thinks about Kent, then you can see why Bielsa would want him in the squad.
But it could cost Leeds more than £10million to sign the English attacker.
The Sun adds that while a £10million move has been made for him, Rangers are “only willing to sell their players for big money”.
Leeds are expected to spend money on new faces this summer but do we see them going north of £10million to add a player to a position that is already well-stocked?
Sure, Bielsa likes to have plenty of wingers at his disposal but Jack Harrison, Ezgjan Alioski and Stuart Dallas can all play naturally in Kent’s position on the left-wing.
But, if Bielsa wants him and thinks he’s worth the money, then we’re all for it.
