Leeds want Himad Abdelli deal, bids likely with AC Milan deal lined up for Monday

Leeds are pursuing a new midfielder this summer and have been linked with Himad Abdelli.

The Angers captain has impressed in Ligue 1 and netted a further six goals last season as they avoided relegation.

Now, with the 25-year-old set to enter the final year of his contract, speculation surrounding his future grows.

As a result, reports in early June indicated that Leeds have interest Abdelli this summer as Daniel Farke aims to reinforce his midfield.

Leeds United set to battle Torino for Abdelli

Leeds United have been linked with multiple midfielders so far this summer.

Mateus Fernandes has been heavily linked to Leeds after Southampton’s relegation.

Farke was also chasing Habib Diarra, with the Senegalese midfielder now set to join Sunderland

As a result, Leeds are set to quickly move on to other targets, with their interest in Abdelli now intensifying.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri (28 June), Leeds, Torino, and Trabzonspor are the frontrunners for the Angers star.

Torino are looking to replace Samuele Ricci, who is set to move to AC Milan, according to Milan News (28 June).

Now, each club is considering making an offer for Abdelli as the battle to win the race for his signature heats up.

Farke must target Premier League-ready signings

The signing of Abdelli would be a massive risk for Leeds if they pursue the midfielder.

While the 25-year-old has impressed at Angers, the overall quality of Ligue 1 is poorer than the Premier League

Therefore, there is no evidence that the Abdelli would be able to make the step up into the English top-flight.

If Leeds are to stay up, Farke must target Premier League-ready players and not take risks that could prove to be extremely costly.

Hopefully, the Yorkshire club reconsiders their transfer policy to give them the best chance of staying in the division.

If not, signings such as Abdelli could prove to be costly for Leeds and Farke in the coming months.
