Leeds schedule medical to sign player who Daniel Farke almost landed in summer
Leeds United are edging closer to their first signing of the January transfer window.
There have been plenty of transfer rumours surrounding Elland Road this window, with Sevilla ace Ruben Vargas the latest to be linked to Leeds.
Exits have been spoken about more regularly, with Jack Harrison set to join Fiorentina in a surprise move to Serie A.
Harrison’s exit from Leeds to Florence has seemingly opened the door for a new attacking option to move to LS11.
Daniel Farke has returned to his summer shopping list and looks likely to finally get his hands on one of his top targets.
Leeds United reach agreement for Facundo Buonanotte transfer
Leeds wanted Facundo Buonanotte in the summer, but the Argentine ultimately made a bizarre switch to Chelsea.
The attacking midfielder went on to have very little impact under Enzo Maresca, and that hasn’t changed since Liam Rosenior’s introduction.
The 21-year-old featured in the FA Cup against Charlton Athletic, but was hooked and replaced by Enzo Fernandez with over 20 minutes remaining.
It now looks as if his Stamford Bridge spell is coming to an end, with a Yorkshire move now on the cards this winter.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday that Leeds have reached a verbal agreement to sign Bounanotte from Brighton.
The attacking midfielder is now set to return to the Seagulls from Chelsea before making an immediate switch to Elland Road.
A move to link up with Farke will be on a loan deal until the end of the season, months after the summer when he could have joined the Whites instead.
Buonanotte medical date set at Leeds
It must not be forgotten that Leeds booked a flight for Buonanotte to move to Leeds in the summer, which he decided to snub.
A medical was being prepped in LS11, but all these measures were ultimately ignored by the Argentine in favour of a Chelsea transfer.
It looks as if he will take up the opportunity four months later, with Romano adding that tests will be completed once Chelsea and Brighton approve a deal.
There is no specific date as things stand, but it is certainly a positive sign that the transfer specialist has outlined this level of detail.
Buonanotte has relationships to mend at Elland Road after his summer antics, but it looks as if he’s going to get the chance to do so.
