Leeds update emerges in battle with Sheffield United for Nottingham Forest gem
Leeds United are more interested than Sheffield United in signing Andrew Omobamidele from Nottingham Forest, according to Alan Nixon.
The journalist shared via his personal Bluesky account [6 January] that Leeds’ interest is more substantial in response to a question from a Sheffield United fan.
The Whites are in discussions with Nottingham Forest over a loan-to-buy deal for the centre-back [The Sun], but will face competition from Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United.

Daniel Farke is desperate to strengthen his defensive ranks at Elland Road.
The Whites’ options at centre-back are wearing thin – barring the preferred partnership of Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk, only Max Wober is a natural in the position, while Ethan Ampadu can operate in the backline when needed.
Furthermore, Wober is facing an uncertain future in West Yorkshire, with a return to RB Salzburg mooted for this month [Salzburger Nachrichten].
Leeds are one or two injuries away from a crisis, and with Premier League promotion a genuine possibility heading into the second half of the season, signing another defender could make all the difference for Farke.

The German is believed to be keen on a reunion with Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi amid his £8.2million release clause [BILD], but a move for Omobamidele is more logical from a financial point of view.
Nottingham Forest are only asking for £10m at the end of the loan deal for the 22-year-old, and with Premier League experience under his belt, he would be a worthy competitor at Elland Road with only the obligation of potentially a bargain cut-price fee.
