Leeds unwilling to pay £2m for defender who’s spent 3 years at PL giants – report

Leeds United are interested in signing Liverpool left-back Yasser Larouci this summer but are unwilling to meet the Premier League club’s valuation, according to Afrique Sports.

The African news outlet, which has over one million Facebook followers, claims that Liverpool want £2million for the 19-year-old defender, which is considered “too expensive” by the Whites”.

Afrique Sports adds that Said Benrahma is one of Leeds top targets this summer as Marcelo Bielsa plans for the club’s first season back in the Premier League for 16 years.

Is £2million too expensive for Larouci?

Leeds have not been shy on spending money on younger players with the club already confirming the signing of Cody Drameh from Fulham (£400k+) and Joe Gelhardt from Wigan (£1million).

We expect big things from both of those two young players but if that sort of money is spent on them, then why not Larouci?

Leeds could do with adding a new left-back to their squad this summer.

While they have plenty of players who can play there in Stuart Dallas, Ezgjan Alioski, Leif Davis and Barry Douglas, Douglas is the only one considered a natural left-back who has a good amount of senior experience.

Plus, Douglas could be off this summer with Sky Sports reporting that he is attracting interest from Celtic.

It is surprising that £2million is considered too much for Larouci, who could be of use for Leeds in the Premier League next season and for years to come due to his age.

However, Andrea Radrizzani is bound to be running a tight ship this summer due to the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic and that money might be better off used on someone who does have that bit more experience.

Larouci has spent the last three years at Liverpool but has just two senior appearances to his name, so there is a bit of a risk there if they want instant results from a new left-back.

In other Leeds United news, the club has tabled an offer for this Dutch attacker.
