Leeds United working on late January transfer deals after Daniel Farke statement
Leeds United are working on new January transfers behind the scenes at Elland Road with just four days to go until the window closes, according to Leeds Live.
The local news outlet shared the update on 28 January after Daniel Farke seemed to make a statement to the board as he named two goalkeepers on his bench to face Plymouth, with 20-year-old Harry Christy among them.
It was a display of the lack of depth in this Leeds squad right now. With Crycensio Summerville, Stuart Dallas, Daniel James, Pascal Struijk, Archie Gray and Karl Darlow all injured, new arrivals are needed.
Desperate for new additions
While the injury list at Elland Road is less than ideal, it’s far from an extensive list of names. The fact that the six injured, among which are one long-term absentee and a goalkeeper, would force two keepers to be named on a nine-man bench is worrying.
Whether or not Farke meant to make the statement or was simply making up numbers on the bench is neither here nor there, as that is the effect it has had. Depth has been an issue for Leeds since the exodus in the summer, and this is a chance to help ease that concern.
Talks are reportedly continuing behind the scenes at Elland Road, which will be positive news to everybody associated with the club as we approach deadline day on 1 February with several positions still in need of strengthening.

Both full-backs have been a priority since the transfer window opened, a right-back especially with Gray being shoehorned into position despite his good performances, but it looks like being a busy end to the window at Leeds.
In other Leeds United news, the club are in advanced talks over a new signing.
