Leeds United work to be done to sign Connor Roberts in deadline-busting transfer

Leeds United are working on a deal to sign Burnley defender Connor Roberts on Deadline Day, according to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (1 February), the journalist reports that the Wales international could move to Elland Road, but there is “work to be done”.

Roberts has struggled for regular game time at Turf Moor this season and has been linked with a move to Leeds all month, with Daniel Farke keen to replace Djed Spence and Luke Ayling after allowing them to leave during the January window.

Finally

It’s been a long time coming, but it feels like Leeds may finally be able to get a deal done before the deadline passes.

Farke has been vocal about the fact he needs a new defender in his squad to bolster numbers, but also that they need to be the right profile, character and person if they’re going to come into the club.

Roberts seemingly matches all those needs, and it’s just about getting a deal done before the 11pm deadline at this point.

The club will surely have been working on a deal to get Roberts in for a while considering the smoke that has come out around the deal in recent weeks, but hopefully a deal is far enough along that it can get done.

Farke looks to be getting his wish fulfilled and the team won’t be short on numbers for the second half of the season, so fingers crossed promotion is still on the cards.

In other Leeds news, loan could be terminated for deadline-busting move to Elland Road.
