Leeds United won’t stop Crysencio Summerville leaving Elland Road this summer
Leeds United won’t stand in the way of Crysencio Summerville leaving Elland Road should they receive a good offer, according to Ben Jacobs.
Speaking to GiveMeSport (24 June), the football journalist reports that the Whites need to sell players this summer to raise funds after failing to return to the Premier League.
Several clubs have shown interest with Brighton making the first move [Fabrizio Romano, 17 June], and Jacobs believes that Leeds won’t make an exit too difficult out of respect to his commitment during the 2023/24 season.
“Leeds may well be forced to sell and they have to also reward the player for his loyalty and his professionalism, and if now he wants to go, I don’t think that Leeds would stand in his way at the right price because they respect the fact that he did everything in his power to try and get Leeds promoted,” he said.
Crysencio Summerville to leave Leeds United
After a long season that ultimately ended in failure, the summer transfer window is going to be long and hard for fans to deal with considering all the rumours.
Summerville is the main man who is expected to leave [Phil Hay, 27 May], having scored 21 goals last season and attracted the interest of a host of Premier League clubs.
However with just two years remaining on his contract this is a bad spot for Leeds to be in when it comes to negotiations, because they don’t have much leverage.

The club have always been good when it comes to treating their players properly, and if a player respects the club then he is likely to be allowed to move on, unlike what Wilfried Gnonto did last year.
It’s a tough situation but fans will understand that needs must, and the player is too good to be playing in the second tier again at this stage of his career. It’s now seemingly just a matter of when he leaves, rather than if.
He’ll surely get a big pay-rise too, with reports that he is currently on £16k per-week, and it will be well deserved.
