Leeds United want to use Raphinha money to sign De Ketelaere as footage from airport emerges

Leeds United have confirmed that Barcelona have agreed a deal in principle for Raphinha and the money from that deal will go towards trying to sign Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge, according to The Times.

Raphinha, 25, was spotted arriving in Barcelona on Wednesday (13 July) with footage of the Brazilian winger emerging from El Prat Airport in Catalonia.

It looks like the deal will soon be done with Fabrizio Romano reporting on Tuesday (12 July) that Leeds have accepted a package worth an initial £48.9million fee, plus add-ons to take the total package to £56.6million.

The Times now claims that Leeds will use £31million of that Raphinha fee to “try and sign the Brugges forward” De Ketelaere, who’s also wanted by AC Milan.

Outbid them

Even though AC Milan are in the Champions League and are Serie A champions, Leeds probably have the upper hand when it comes to the financial aspect of things.

Leeds have spent a lot of money this summer but they’ve also made a lot and the fresh investment from the San Francisco 49ers is bound to boost the funds Andrea Radrizzani is able to fee up for Victor Orta and Jesse Marsch.

We don’t expect Leeds to make many more new signings but if they do, there’s probably one big one left and this De Ketelaere one could be just that.

De Ketelaere is a striker who can play on the left-wing or in a deeper midfield role.

Last season, the 21-year-old Belgium international helped Brugge win the Belgian title by scoring 18 goals and supplying 10 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.

Leeds need reinforcements up front and De Ketelaere can offer exactly that.

He could even force Patrick Bamford out of Marsch’s starting line-up – he’s that good.

In other Leeds United news, a Raphinha decoy fooled the Spanish media as he arrived at Barcelona.
