Leeds United want to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili who has a £85.7m release clause
Leeds United are in the race to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgio Mamardashvili in a £35m deal this summer, according to Fichajes.net.
Mamardashvili has been one of the standout performers for the La Liga outfit this season as they battle against relegation and has reportedly attracted interest from the likes of Leicester City, Manchester United and Chelsea in the Premier League.
But a new report (5 April) claims that the Georgian also has admirers at Elland Road, and Valencia would be willing to sell amid their financial troubles if a bid of around £35m was received despite his £85.7m release clause.

Quality
Leeds already have Illan Meslier between the sticks, but there has been plenty of attention for the French youngster and it’s possible that we could be potentially losing him at the end of the season.
But if Meslier is to leave, Mamardashvili would be a perfect replacement as someone who is just 22-years-old and has all the best years of his career ahead of him.
The Georgian has been described as having “brilliant” reflexes by Football Talent Scout and at 6ft 6 is very good when it comes to claiming crosses and being assertive in his box.

Obviously the price is quite steep for a club such as Leeds but it’s always negotiable, especially if they have financial troubles and if Meslier were to stay at the club then the chances are we wouldn’t push for a deal anyway.
With that said, it’s interesting to note that the Whites are keeping tabs on another top young talent in the goalkeeper position and they will be right in the mix for his signature if they need it during the summer.
In other Leeds news, John Percy has shared that one first-team ace is “very close” to signing a new deal at Elland Road.
