Leeds United want to sign Udinese star Festy Ebosele after ‘superstar’ Wayne Rooney claim

Leeds United are amongst the clubs who want to sign Udinese star Festy Ebosele in the summer transfer window, according to HITC.

The news outlet reported on its website on Friday (23 February) that the Whites are taking a keen interest in the Republic of Ireland international alongside Premier League outfit Tottenham on the back of his performances for the Serie A club this season.

It said the 21-year-old right-back, who Wayne Rooney claimed during his time managing him at Derby County could be a “superstar”, is one of the best young players in Italy at the moment.

Leeds United face battle to sign Festy Ebosele

It’s pretty clear that Ebosele is a much-coveted player at this moment in time and that it could be tough to land a deal for him in the summer.

While Leeds are an attractive proposition for young players, the fact Tottenham as well as West Ham, Everton, Watford and promotion rivals Southampton are also interested means their offer will have to stand out.

It seems incredibly unlikely that the Whites would be able to sign him if they don’t go up this season, adding even more of an incentive to their promotion ambitions.

The Irishman has been in impressive form for Udinese this season, having made 25 appearances for the Italian side.

Daniel Farke will likely be keeping a close eye on his situation over the next few months in the hope of securing his services when the transfer window reopens.
