Leeds United want to sign Sheffield United wizard Gustavo Hamer before transfer deadline
Leeds United want to sign Gustavo Hamer from Sheffield United before the transfer window closes, according to Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist reported via his Patreon on 26 August that the Blades “wizard” is a Whites target who they are willing to pay £13million for but Sheffield United want more than that.
Leeds wanted to sign Hamer a year ago before his move to Bramall Lane from Coventry City [Voetbal Rotterdam], for a reported fee of £15million [The Athletic].
Daniel Farke wants three more signings in after the arrival of Largie Ramazani, and a medical has been completed for Tottenham’s Manor Solomon [Shay Lugassi, 25 August] but the deal has yet to be confirmed.

Hamer would be an excellent signing if the Whites could pull off a late deal, having failed to do so last summer.
Whether the interest is a sign that the delay in Solomon’s arrival from Spurs means that deal is in danger remains to be seen, as both are capable of playing in the attacking midfield role vacated by Georginio Rutter’s exit to Brighton.
Hamer, 27, may be more of an ambitious attempt to replace Glen Kamara after the Finn’s move to Rennes, and one that would arguably be an upgrade in the centre of midfield.

The Dutchman has scored 27 goals and laid on 32 assists across four seasons in England with Coventry and Sheffield United, and would address the lack of goal threat from midfield last season.
It looks like he would be an expensive prospect but after taking in over £100m from the sale of Kamara, Rutter, Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville this summer there should be a decent budget available.
Fans are not happy with the way those four left, or the manner of the late scramble to get incoming deals as a result, but if Hamer were secured it would go a long way towards bringing them round.
