Leeds United want to sign Levante goalkeeper Dani Cardenas
Leeds United are interested in signing Levante goalkeeper Dani Cardenas as they hunt down a replacement for Kiko Casilla, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The newspaper reports that Leeds hope to land a new goalkeeper before they kick off their pre-season fixtures on July 27 when they play non-league side Guiseley.
Cardenas, 24, is someone on Victor Orta’s shortlist to replace Casilla, who joined La Liga side Elche on loan earlier this week.

Not very experienced
Leeds’ number one Illan Meslier might be an impressive young goalkeeper but he’s also an inexperienced goalkeeper.
Yes, he impressed us all last season in the Premier League but that was his first full season as a proper number one.
Casilla, for all his flaws, will have at least had a positive influence on Meslier in training due to the amount of experience he has had from playing at Real Madrid and for Spain.
What can Cardenas offer?

He’s 24-years-old and has just 13 senior appearances to his name throughout his entire career.
While 24 is quite young for a goalkeeper, you would have expected him to play way more than he has done for Levante.
Cardenas is an experienced back-up goalkeeper but would we trust him to shine for Leeds if Meslier was ever injured or suspended? It would be difficult, in all honesty.
There have to be better options out there for us.
Yes, he’s in the last year of his contract at Levante and is bound to be a low-cost option who’s bound to offer more as a second-choice goalkeeper than Elia Caprile.
But there’s no room for messing around this summer.
Casilla must be replaced adequately.
