Leeds United want to sign Kilmarnock starlet Bobby Wales ahead of Ipswich and Stoke

Leeds United want to sign Kilmarnock wonderkid Bobby Wales ahead of Championship rivals Ipswich and Stoke, according to Daily Record.

Writing on their website (22 February), the Scottish news outlet report that the teenage striker has caught the attention of the English clubs after seven goals in eight games while out on loan at Alloa.

Now the Whites are keen to bring him to Elland Road, with the club’s scouts keeping close tabs on the 18-year-old.

Leeds United love signing young talent

It’s been the model of the club in recent years for young talent to be targeted and developed at Leeds United, and it’s hard to argue against it.

The likes of Illan Meslier, Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto were all signed for relatively small fees and have all become incredibly important members of the first-team.

Aside from them the likes of Diogo Monteiro, Mateo Joseph and Sonny Perkins have also been targeted and signed and are still developing – with the latter two making appearances for the first team.

There is a huge gap between the Scottish League One and English Championship, or potentially Premier League, but Wales would likely go into the development squad initially with the idea of seeing how he performs.

Seven goals in his last eight games suggests there is definitely a host of talent to work with for the coaches, and if they can beat the competition to his signature it could be a real coup for the club.
