Leeds United want to sign Jonathan Rowe as new bid submitted – Sky Sports

Leeds United could lose the race to sign Norwich City winger Jonathan Rowe after Marseille submit a second bid, according to Sky Sports.

Lyall Thomas reported on the Sky Sports transfer blog [15 August], that Marseille have made a loan offer with an obligation to buy for Rowe.

The Whites are interested in the 21-year-old as their Crysencio Summerville replacement and will have to decide whether to move as Norwich City considers the latest offer.

Will Leeds United sign Jonathan Rowe?

Daniel Farke knows how much Norwich wants for their young winger, the Canaries stuck a £15m price tag on him to ward off potential suitors [Daily Mirror].

The plan has failed to work as Marseille returns with an improved offer for Rowe but is still far off their valuation, leaving an opportunity for Leeds to pounce.

There is just over a fortnight left in the transfer window until the 30 August deadline and the Whites need to decide if Rowe is their priority or to move on to alternative targets.

Leeds could have even more money to spend this summer should Georginio Rutter move to Brighton & Hove Albion after activating his £40m release clause [BBC Sport] and while that would allow the Whites to match Norwich’s asking price, this is the worst-case scenario as Farke would then need to replace another first team regular.

The Whites have already lost Summerville taking with him the 20 goals and nine assists he provided last season, the goal contributions will be a tough task to ask for one player to replace but Rowe’s 12 goals and two assists in the Championship last term will go a long way to filling the Dutch-sized void.

It is shaping up to be an interesting final few weeks of the transfer window at Elland Road and Leeds will need to act fast otherwise they will be left panic-buying in the final days of the summer.
