Leeds United want to sign in-form Southampton ace Che Adams as St Mary’s exit news emerges

Leeds United want to sign in-form Southampton striker Che Adams regardless of whether they earn promotion to the Premier League this season, according to TEAMtalk.

The football news outlet reported on 12 April that Adams is set to become available on a free transfer this summer which has alerted several clubs around Europe including Leeds and Wolves.

It is said that Leeds are keen to strengthen their attacking options at the end of this season and see Adams as a valuable option after his 14 goals in 39 appearances this season.

Leeds United could sign Che Adams from Southampton

Adams has scored two goals in his last three games and is being rewarded with more playing time under Russel Martin at St Mary’s, but remains set to depart the club in the summer, with a free transfer very much on the cards.

This would be a huge coup for Leeds if they could pull it off due to his experience in the Premier League, the Championship and on the international stage amid interest from Premier League clubs in Wolves.

There has been criticism for both Patrick Bamford and Joel Piroe at times this season, with the attacking burden often falling to Georginino Rutter and Crysencio Summerville to provide the finishing touch under Farke’s leadership.

Patrick Bamford’s injury problems could have opened the Leeds United door for Raja Mujica in 2021-22.

If Adams were to arrive at Elland Road this summer he would be seen as an upgrade for Leeds and even if he was used as a rotation option alongside Bamford and Piroe, it would represent the strengthening of Farke’s squad – even if they remain in the Championship.
