Leeds United want to sign Fenerbahce winger Bright Osayi-Samuel in £8.6m transfer

Leeds United want to sign Fenerbahce wide man Bright Osayi-Samuel this month with the player and club open to a move, according to Star.

Writing on their website (4 January), the Turkish news outlet report that Leeds, Crystal Palace and Wolves are all interested in signing the 26-year-old Nigeria international.

Fenerbahce are open to a deal worth around €10m (£8.6m) and the player is also open to exit this month and is “preparing to leave” during the transfer window.

“There were 3 suitors from the island for Bright Osayi-Samuel, one of the key names in Fenerbahçe this season,” they wrote.

“British teams Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton and Leeds United entered the transfer race to add Bright Osayi-Samuel to their squad. It is stated that Osayi Samuel, who previously played on the Island, is also positive about these clubs.

“Fenerbahçe plans to open the door to future offers at €10million (£8.6m).”

Winger options

Most Leeds fans would likely all agree on the fact that the strongest position in the squad right now is the attack, with so many quality winger options and strikers.

Currently Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto, Daniel James, Jaidon Anthony, Ian Poveda, Patrick Bamford, Georginio Rutter and Joel Piroe make up the regular options for Daniel Farke, while Joe Gelhardt and Mateo Joseph are also in the running at times too.

So bringing in another attacker seems a bit unlikely at this point, although the links for the position have been persistent with David Brooks and Kieffer Moore already linked.

Farke clearly sees a hole in his squad that nobody else can see, or the club are preparing for an exit during this transfer window with Gnonto and Summerville both being targeted by top-flight clubs.

Either way the club wants to ensure that they’re not left short for the second half of the season and Osayi Samuel could be en route to Elland Road.
