Leeds United want to sign Daiki Hashioka as Japan star open to English transfer, Patrick Bamford connection emerges
Leeds United want to sign Sint-Truiden defender Daiki Hashioka in the January transfer window, according to Het Belang van Limburg.
The Belgian newspaper reported on page 23 of its print edition on Saturday (27 January) that the Japanese international would prefer a move to England, with the Whites the main contenders to sign him ahead of Luton Town.
The 24-year-old right-back may have come onto the club’s radar because he has the same agent as forward Patrick Bamford as Daniel Farke looks to add to his defensive options this month [Transfermarkt].
Time is running out
The transfer deadline is rapidly approaching as clubs continue to scour the market for some last-minute deals to strengthen their squad.
Leeds haven’t managed to bring in any new faces this month, while Djed Spence was sent back to Tottenham and Luke Ayling was loaned out to Middlesbrough.
That has left Farke relatively short in the fullback department, so you would expect some movement on that front over the next few days.

Hashioka is probably an unknown quantity to many, but another option to compete with Archie Gray at right-back would be welcome.
The Japanese has scored two goals and registered two assists in 18 appearances in the Belgian top flight this season as he hopes his form will land him a move to England in the coming days.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are plotting a double raid on one Premier League club this month.
