Leeds United want to sign Bournemouth left-back Jordan Zemura amid contract issues
Leeds United are among the clubs that want to sign Bournemouth defender Jordan Zemura this summer amid his contract issues at the club, say 90min.
23-year-old Zemura has been one of the best performers for the Cherries this season, making 19 appearances so far, but was left out of their match-day squad for the 1-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday (11 March).
Manager Gary O’Neill admitted it was an “internal decision” to leave him out, and that has alerted several clubs to his potential availability this summer as he enters the final year of his contract.
“West Ham showed an interest in signing Zemura last summer and sources have confirmed to 90min that the Hammers, who like Bournemouth are fighting for their Premier League lives, remain keen on signing the Zimbabwe international,” they wrote (13 March).
“Newcastle, Leeds and Aston Villa are also admirers of Zemura, while interest has been shown in his services from clubs in Germany and France.”
Option
Leeds have been very good at spotting young talent and bringing these players into the club to help them develop and also improve the team.
Zemura has previously been described as “excellent” by former manager Scott Parker, and is a full Zimbabwe international too which shows that he is capable of playing at a high level.
The left-back position has been something that has been trouble at Elland Road for a little while and despite Junior Firpo’s recent rejuvenation under Javi Gracia, it’s likely that the club will look to bring someone else in during the summer.
With an exit away from Bournemouth looking like the most likely option, Leeds have a great chance to bring in a Premier League proven left-back for a relatively moderate fee this summer to boost the depth of the squad.
There will be plenty of competition to get his signature from European clubs too so Leeds should move quickly if they want to get this done, but first they have to ensure they’re still a Premier League side next season if they want a chance of being successful.
