Leeds United want to sign Bournemouth forward David Brooks on loan, Southampton also in hunt

Leeds United want to sign Bournemouth winger David Brooks on loan in January and face competition from Southampton, according to Alex Crook.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (29 December), the talkSPORT journalist reports that the Whites are keen to sign the out-of-favour winger to bolster their attacking options.

Brooks has played 11 times in the Premier League this season with just two starts, with the 26-year-old registering one goal and one assist for the Cherries.

“Understand both Leeds United and Southampton would like to sign Bournemouth winger David Brooks on loan,” he wrote.

Interesting

The forward positions are certainly the most stacked area of the Leeds squad and it would be a surprise if Daniel Farke’s priority was to strengthen it in January.

Crysencio Summerville and Daniel James have established themselves as the first-choice wingers at the club while Wilfried Gnonto, Jaidon Anthony and Ian Poveda have all been pushing for minutes from the bench.

It would be a surprise if Brooks joined then on loan, although it’s possible that it could mean Anthony’s future with the Whites is bleak as he is already on loan from the Cherries at the moment.

He has struggled for game time this season at Leeds after coming as part of the deal which saw Luis Sinisterra join Bournemouth on deadline day in the summer, so could look to return.

If someone leaves then a replacement will no doubt be needed, and Brooks would be a shrewd signing, so this is definitely one to keep an eye on heading into the winter window.
