Leeds United want to sign Anthony Patterson in Sunderland transfer update
Leeds United are one of several clubs keeping tabs on Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson according to This is Anfield.
The reliable Liverpool source shared that the Premier League club are also watching closely, with bids worth £10-15million potentially tempting the Championship side.
Sunderland are the next opponents for the Whites, with Patterson likely set to start at Elland Road on Tuesday 9 April.
Any credible interest from Elland Road will surely also be dependent on Leeds achieving promotion to the Premier League at the end of this season.
Do Leeds really need to move on from Illan Meslier?
Leeds’ promotion push leaves them third in the Championship going into their match against Sunderland on 9 April, a rise that has been built on the foundations of rock-solid defence.
Illan Meslier – still just 23 and only a few months older than Patterson – has kept more clean sheets than any other Championship goalkeeper this season with 17.
Should Leeds complete an immediate return to the top-flight, he will relish the chance to have another crack at the Premier League having conceded goals for fun in two of his three previous campaigns.

Meslier is clearly talented and appeared to be on a constant upward trajectory during his first two seasons at Elland Road, but his confidence undoubtedly took a hit.
His place in the French national team’s goalkeeping ranks also slipped, as the Whites shipped 146 goals with him between the sticks (and 157 in total) in two torrid seasons which saw Leeds eventually relegated.
Should Leeds go up and sell him on, Meslier can depart with his head held high, but Farke would undoubtedly be taking a big risk to replace his number one with Sunderland’s Patterson.
