Leeds United want to sign Adam Hlozek as £12m Bayer Leverkusen transfer news emerges

Leeds United are in the hunt to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Adam Hlozek, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The newspaper reported via their print edition (page 76, 23 June) that Hlozek, 21, “could be set to leave” the BayArena despite helping Xabi Alonso’s side win the domestic double in Germany last season.

It is understood that a “bargain to be had” for someone this summer with Leeds and West Ham tracking the £12million-rated Czechia international.

What is happening at Leeds United this summer?

It’s been an extremely quiet start to the summer transfer window at Leeds United after Daniel Farke’s side failed to win promotion back to the Premier League last season.

One of the reasons for it being quiet is that the Whites might need to sell players before the end of June due to PSR reasons.

The Athletic reported on 14 June that the Yorkshire club needs to sanction a “significant” player exit in order to balance the books ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto, Illan Meslier and Georginio Rutter have all been touted as potential players who could be sold by Leeds without any real word about who could be coming in to replace them.

It seems unlikely that there will be any solid progress on new signings until one of those players is sold, and we’d expect that to happen later in the month.

Clubs know that Leeds need to sell and they will no doubt make the Whites sweat all the way up until 30 June, when they feel they can achieve a better-value deal.

Hlozek might be someone of interest at Leeds but we don’t see that happening just yet. Maybe later in the summer if no Premier League club wants him.
