Leeds United want to sign AC Milan defender Fode Ballo-Toure in brand new transfer

Leeds United want to sign AC Milan left-back Fode Ballo-Toure in a brand new transfer, according to Foot Mercato.

Writing on their website (18 July), the news outlet report that the 27-year-old is set to leave the San Siro this summer with the Serie A giants having already agreed on a deal with Besiktas.

But the player isn’t interested in a move to Turkey and Leeds are one of several clubs interested in a deal including Watford, Sevilla and Celta Vigo.

Leeds United to sign AC Milan defender?

The Whites are in desperate need of defensive strengthening this summer, with plenty of exits and not a lot of incomings so far.

Max Wober and Rasmus Kristensen are set to return from their loans away but both are being targeted for permanent transfers to take them elsewhere, while Diego Llorente has already been sold permanently and Conor Roberts’ loan wasn’t extended.

However, another player linked with a move away is Junior Firpo with Real Betis keen on the left-back [ABC, 16 July]. It’s a problem position for Daniel Farke, and with just 12 months left on his contract, there is a decision to be made, with the defender even willing to make a financial effort to push the move through.

However a move for Ballo-Toure could be extremely positive as he is very experienced at the highest level and at 27-years-old he is in the peak of his career.

He’s also capable of playing centrally if necessary, and versatility is something the manager values highly. There’s no mention of a fee but with Milan having already agreed a price with Besiktas, it should be clear what it will take to get a deal done.
