Leeds United want Joe Worrall as £6m update emerges at Elland Road

Nottingham Forest will demand a £6million transfer fee to sell Joe Worrall in January amid interest from Sheffield United and Leeds United, according to Alan Nixon.

The Sun journalist reported via his Patreon on 30 January that Leeds would not be willing to match the asking price but may attempt to bring him in on loan if they fail to bring in another centre-back.

It is said that the £6million price tag is also too high for Sheffield United, so Leeds are unlikely to fall behind their Premier League opposition on that front.

Another option emerging

If the opportunity presents itself for Leeds to sign Worrall before 1 February, they should jump at the chance to make that happen. A defender with Premier League experience could make a real difference to the promotion push.

That experience of the Premier League, as well as a recent promotion-winning campaign under his belt, could be crucial in the closing stages of the season with Daniel Farke’s side looking to keep up their bid for a return to the Premier League.

Not only is he a very good defender for this level, but his leadership and experience can go some of the way to filling the void left by Luke Ayling’s departure, having been captain at Forest until very recently.

The Premier League outfit are ready to let him go this month after he fell out of favour with previous boss Steve Cooper, and has failed to regain that favour under Nuno Espirito Santo at the City Ground, but their loss could be to Leeds’ gain.
