Leeds United want full value for Wilfried Gnonto transfer after money issues update

Leeds United will want to receive full value for Wilfried Gnonto if he is to leave this summer, according to The Mirror.

The newspaper has reported that the Whites demanded £30million to sell Gnonto last summer, with Everton reigniting their interest.

While the Toffees’ bid of £25million was rejected last year, Leeds are open to allowing the youngster to leave this time around (The Times, 15 July).

Leeds United ready for Wilfried Gnonto transfer

Given their failure to gain promotion back to the Premier League through the play-offs, you’d imagine Leeds will be hungrier than ever to earn promotion next season.

Alas, while that may be the case, they haven’t been afraid to sell.

The club will generate £48million from the sales of Archie Gray and Glen Kamara, with the latter getting closer and closer to a move to Rennes [Fabrizio Romano]. So, with their financial burden eased, Leeds are well within their rights to go back and ask for more from Everton.

The Toffees have issues of their own, and Gnonto is currently under contract until 2027. Yes, Sean Dyche is a resourceful manager, but he may need to dig a bit deeper this time around if he wants his man.

As for Gnonto himself, it’s tough to say what the best move is. He could easily thrive in the Premier League but within this Leeds United side, he’s a stand-out star.
