Leeds United are interested in a double deal to sign Middlesbrough duo Marcus Tavernier and Dael Fry, according to Football League World.

The online source has reported on their website that Chris Wilder wants to keep hold of his key men, with Victor Orta a big fan from his time at the club.

It is suggested that it would take a fee of £20million to get Fry alone out of the Riverside this summer for the Whites.

This all depends on promotion.

Middlesbrough are in a great run of form and are really pushing for the Championship play-offs under Wilder at this moment.

Should Boro miss out on that, some of their key players may become available and that is when Leeds could pounce.

That is, of course, if the Whites themselves avoid relegation back down to the Championship at the end of this season.

Smart?

We have seen numerous clubs from the Premier League target the Championship over recent years.

The likes of Ollie Watkins, Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen have made the jump up effortlessly, although they were playing much bigger roles at their clubs.

Those three were scoring for fun, and although Tavernier is playing a big role, he isn't justifying a huge price tag at this moment in time.

Fry, on the other hand, is one defender who has been consistently mentioned in recent years for a move to the Premier League.

Orta bringing these two to the club would instantly improve our squad depth, something that has been lacking for far too long.

£20million+, though? We think the club has other plans for the summer, starting with Brenden Aaronson at RB Salzburg.
