Leeds United want Daniel James either permanently or on loan

Leeds United want to sign Manchester United forward Daniel James either on loan or on a permanent basis this summer, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claims that Brighton are also interested in signing the 23-year-old Wales international but Man United could be difficult to deal with as they aim to keep hold of the former Swansea ace.

It is understood that even though Jadon Sancho has arrived at Old Trafford and pushed James down Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pecking order, the Red Devils are unwilling to let the attacker go due to Marcus Rashford’s injury.

The Sun adds that James could still even be offered a new contract by Man United to keep him happy.

How can James stay?

James has spent the last two seasons at Old Trafford and what has he got to show for it?

Not only has he failed to win any silverware but he has also failed to hold down his spot in a squad of players that has failed to meet expectations.

James started just 11 Premier League matches last season and for a player who showed so much promise and potential at Swansea, that isn’t enough.

There’s no doubt that Man United are holding James back and the £72million addition of England international Sancho is only going to stifle the Yorkshire-born Wales international even more.

James is someone who Marcelo Bielsa can definitely get the best out of.

He clearly wanted the 23-year-old in January 2019 when he came within a whisker of signing for Leeds before Swansea pulled the plug on a deal.

Bielsa wanted him, we wanted him and James wanted Leeds. It all added up until Swansea’s last-gasp decision to pull out.

With Helder Costa struggling to impress at Elland Road in the Premier League, James would be a massive improvement and we would like to see him join the Whites this summer.

Hopefully it will be on a permanent basis and if it’s a loan, it’s a loan deal that will become permanent.

In other Leeds United news, this player is heading to England today to sign for the Whites after a fee was agreed.
