Leeds United unsung promotion hero who Daniel Farke loves on brink of finding new club
Joshua Guilavogui is close to finding a new club on the back of departing Leeds United in the summer.
Guilavogui departed Leeds over the summer after joining the club during the 2024/25 campaign, at a time when the West Yorkshire side needed experience in midfield.
The Whites have gone on to have a mixed start to their return to the Premier League, with Leeds’ 3-0 defeat to Brighton being their latest league result.
This followed Leeds’ 2-1 win over West Ham in a campaign that has produced inconsistent results.
Leeds’ inconsistency was on full display against Brighton, and perhaps, Guilavougi’s experience would’ve helped. Either way, the defensive midfielder has edged one step closer to reuniting with his former club.

Joshua Guilavogui set to reunite with Wolfsburg
Guilavogui is expected to reunite with Wolfsburg as a free agent after bidding farewell to Leeds over the summer, according to Sacha Tavolieri via Sky Sports CH on 3 November.
The German club are going through a difficult period and are keen to turn things around now that Paul Simonis is head coach.
Several files are currently being studied, including Guilavogui, who is one of the club’s longest-serving players, with many internal voices eager to see him return to the Bundesliga side.

However, it remains to be seen whether the club’s board will act, and the next few days are set to be decisive.
Daniel Farke held Joshua Guilavogui in high regard
Guilavogui arrived at Leeds not as a regular starter but an experienced squad member, and he played his part perfectly.
Indeed, his final moments on the pitch for the Whites came during a 4-0 home win over Bristol City.
While Guilavogui made 16 league appearances for Leeds, the club went undefeated in the games he played.
Given his work ethic, experience and leadership, the defensive-minded player was truly the unsung hero of Leeds’ promotion campaign, and Farke seemed to have thought the same.
Speaking in November 2024, Farke praised Guilavogui as he called him a “super professional player”.
Farke said: “I just have to give compliments to him, because obviously we were careful to bring a guy in, and we knew that he would be a top character, but he has fulfilled not just all the expectations, I think he has overfilled them.
“He’s unbelievable. Also, since he arrived, he joined us in each and every the team training.
“So not one problem, and we have sometimes really tough sessions. For a player who was not in team training for a few months it’s sometimes difficult, but he’s so professional.”
As a result, Farke and Leeds fans will no doubt be wishing him well as he enters the next phase of his career.
