Leeds United trigger release clause to sign Rasmus Kristensen in new transfer twist
Leeds United have triggered a release clause in Rasmus Kristensen’s contract at Red Bull Salzburg to sign the right-back, according to Salzburger Nachrichten.
The Austrian newspaper reported via their print edition on 3 June (page 18) that Kristensen, 24, has a release clause worth £11.8million, which is understood to be a “bargain” for Leeds.
Salzburger Nachrichten also relay The Telegraph’s report on Kristensen from 2 June, which says the Denmark international has agreed personal terms to head to Elland Road this summer.

Deal close
It shouldn’t be long before Kristensen becomes Leeds second signing of the summer transfer window.
Leeds have already raided Salzburg to sign Brenden Aaronson with the USA international arriving at Elland Road in May to join up with Jesse Marsch.
Both Aaronson and Kristensen look as though they should be decent additions to Marsch’s squad but let’s hope that the Leeds manager isn’t getting too comfortable with simply signing players from his former club who he’s worked with before.

Yes, he’ll know them well already and the deals for both 21-year-old Aaronson and Kristensen look as though they’re good value for money.
But creativity in the transfer market often yields rewards and while these look as though they’re outside-of-the-box moves, they’re not.
Still, we’re excited to see how they get on at Elland Road and it’s good to see Leeds doing their business early because there’s nothing worse than waiting until deadline day to get signings over the line.
Once Kristensen has arrived, we feel Leeds still need a new left-back, central midfielder and a striker while a replacement for Raphinha would be needed if he joins Barcelona.
