Leeds United transfers: Talks held to sign award-winning forward
Leeds United are reportedly prioritising signing a new striker in the summer transfer window.
With the Whites securing promotion to the Premier League, they are keen on bolstering their attack in order to give them the best chance to stay up.
This season, their go striker has been Joel Piroe, who’s expected to win the Championship Golden Boot.

Troy Parrott discussed internally among Elland Road hierarchy
According to TEAMtalk on 2 May, the Whites have held talks internally about getting former Tottenham striker Troy Parrott to Elland Road as signing a forward is the “priority”.
Thus far, no enquiries have been launched for the Republic of Ireland international, who’s currently plying his trade at AZ Alkmaar.
He has been doing pretty well in the Netherlands this season, scoring 20 goals in 45 games in all competitions.
League stats (24/25) | Troy Parrott |
Appearances | 28 |
Goals | 14 |
Assists | 2 |
To add to it, he’s also provided five assists and has led the line with aplomb for AZ Alkmaar.
Thus far, it’s unclear whether or not the Dutch side would sanction a sale for the 23-year-old.

Leeds United can benefit from signing Parrott but need to aim higher
While Parrott has decent numbers since leaving Spurs and also won the Eredivisie Player of the Month award in December 2024, Leeds need to aim higher.
Leeds could benefit from signing him due to his potential and versatility, but they should aim higher for a proven Premier League goalscorer as promotion is achieved.
However, Parrott’s inconsistent scoring record in England raises doubts about his ability to deliver the consistent 15-20 goals needed in the Premier League.
With interest from other clubs, the Whites may even have to pay over the top to secure his services and it may not be worth the ordeal.
Ideally, they should look to splash their transfer record on a striker as it may guarantee them staying in the top flight.
Piroe can always play as a number 10 or a backup striker and the Whites could look to cash in on Brenden Aaronson.
