Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has confirmed that Leeds United target Louie Barry will be going out on loan this window.

The Spaniard was asked about the club's plans for the 21-year-old and he stated that it would be best for his development if he leaves on a temporary basis.

LeedsLive reported on 8 January that the Whites were among the clubs keen on signing the English striker on loan.

The Yorkshire Post quoted Emery as saying: “We are very happy with Barry but we have one plan with him and that is to extend his contract and continue his process as a player, and to go on on loan, get experience and confidence. How we are working with him now and last year is the right way for him.”

Louie Barry will be a good signing for Leeds United

Barry could represent a smart signing for Leeds, especially on a loan basis as confirmed by Emery.

At 21, the Englishman is at a crucial stage in his career where regular first-team football is essential for his development, something he might not get at Villa due to the competitive nature of their squad.

His impressive loan spell at Stockport County, where he scored 15 goals in 23 games, showcases his potential as a goal-scoring threat which could be beneficial for the Whites with their promotion aspirations.

Barry's versatility as both a striker and winger adds tactical flexibility to Leeds' lineup, allowing Daniel Farke to adapt his system based on the game's demands.

Moreover, his experience in various leagues, including a stint at Barcelona's La Masia, brings a level of technical skill and adaptability that could enhance the Whites' attacking options.

His ambition to play regularly aligns with Leeds' need for youthful, hungry talent to push for success.
