Leeds United transfer update emerges on French striker

Leeds United have no interest in signing Willem Geubbels on loan, according to Isaac Johnson.

The Leeds Live journalist reported via X on 21 January that there is no truth in reports that the Whites have an interest in the French forward.

This comes after Sky Sports reported (21 January, 12:18 pm) that a temporary deal was being eyed by Daniel Farke’s side for the 23-year-old from FC St. Gallen.

Norwich City and West Brom have also been linked with the forward, but it appears that Leeds are not in the race.

Leeds United have no interest in Willem Geubbels loan deal in January

The Whites are well-stocked in forward areas and that was shown by the positive result against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday (19 January).

Manor Solomon got on the scoresheet early on before being replaced by Largie Ramazani, who went on to score the second goal and assist the third of the afternoon.

Although an out-and-out striker didn’t contribute to the three goals, Farke still has excellent options in Joel Piroe, Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford.

With that being said, bringing Geubbels in from Switzerland could prove to be a bold move, especially if another forward doesn’t move on.

The Frenchman does have goal-scoring pedigree for St Gallen, netting six in 11 games so far this campaign, but a loan deal wouldn’t necessarily benefit anyone.

If Bamford were to go, then maybe there would be room for the ex-Monaco man, but ultimately it would negatively affect the progress of someone like Joseph and that wouldn’t be helpful.
