Leeds United transfer update emerges ahead of Cardiff City showdown
Leeds United are not likely to make any more signings before their season opener against Cardiff City on Sunday 06 August, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The newspaper reported on their website on Wednesday (2 August) that the Whites will likely not be adding to their options until after they get their Championship campaign underway at Elland Road against the Bluebirds later this week.
So far this summer, Daniel Farke’s side have signed only Ethan Ampadu and Karl Darlow on permanent deals from Chelsea and Newcastle United respectively but they are prepared to bring in further players should key players depart before the transfer window closes.

Discussing where the Whites stand in the window, Joe Donnohue said: “Leeds are unlikely to make any further additions before this Sunday’s season opener against Cardiff City at Elland Road, but are primed to act by bringing in replacements if important first-team squad members leave before the end of the month.
“The club are still actively pursuing several targets, in particular at centre-back, whilst acknowledging the liked of Willy Gnonto, Luis Sinisterra, Tyler Adams and Jack Harrison would also represent a successful window.”

While every fan wants their club to sign a new player every day of the transfer window, Leeds supporters should probably be quite content with how their squad is shaping up for the opening game of the season, especially considering the turbulence at Elland Road this summer.
So many players have already departed Yorkshire, whether it be on temporary or permanent deals, yet the Whites have still managed to keep hold of several incredibly talented options who could probably still be operating in the Premier League.

With the players currently at their disposal Leeds should have enough to get through the challenge of Cardiff, who will likely be buoyed by a new manager and some new arrivals this transfer window, including the recently announced Josh Bowler.
While the squad at Elland Road may well be enough for this weekend’s match, it feels as though more work still needs to be done in this transfer window, especially as interest in the likes of Adams and Gnonto is seemingly heating up by the day. Leeds may have to turn to their replacement list sooner rather than later.
