Leeds United transfer update drops in chase for Adam Hlozek as clause emerges

Leeds United want to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Adam Hlozek this summer to bolster their attack, according to BILD.

Writing on their website (24 June), the German news outlet report that the Czechia striker could leave this summer after falling down the pecking order despite the club winning the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double without losing a game.

However, when Leverkusen paid £13.5million for him in 2022 they also agreed a 30% sell-on clause with Sparta Prague which could drive his price up for the Whites, although no official offer has been tabled as things stand.

Leeds United need a new striker at Elland Road

It’s expected to be a huge summer of change at Elland Road, but most people are focusing on the exits that will be happening.

Crysencio Summerville is expected to move on from the club [The Athletic, 27 May], while interest has also emerged in the likes of Archie Gray [BILD, 24 June], Ilia Gruev [Sky Sports, 4 June], Georginio Rutter and Wilfried Gnonto [GiveMeSport, 18 June] also. since the season ended.

But if any or all of those players move on Daniel Farke has to replace them with quality too, and Hlozek would be a phenomenal signing with top-level experience.

Bayer Leverkusen striker Adam Hlozek, linked with Leeds United
Adam Hlozek won two trophies at Bayer Leverkusen and is now wanted by Leeds United.

Bringing him into the Championship would be like a cheat code because of his quality, but it obviously won’t be an easy deal to do and convincing him to drop down will be hugely difficult.

In an ideal world it will come to fruition because Patrick Bamford can’t be the starting number nine next season, but the 49ers may need to stump up the cash to make it worth everyone’s while.

In other Leeds news, Crysencio Summerville’s Elland Road exit should advance in days after a development elsewhere.
