Leeds United transfer update amid Jonathan Rowe exit speculation at Norwich City

Leeds United are not at the advanced stages of securing incoming transfers despite new Elland Road developments, according to Beren Cross.

The Leeds Live journalist reported on Monday (5 August) that while the Whites are interested in Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe and Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, no deals for either player are close as of Monday morning.

Daniel Farke’s side are looking to replace Crysencio Summerville following his big-money move to West Ham United and while multiple targets have been linked with Elland Road, a solution isn’t expected to be found quickly.

Will Jonathan Rowe exit Norwich City amid Leeds United transfer rumours?

Leeds United have had plenty of time to prepare for Summerville’s departure this summer as it has felt almost inevitable since the start of the transfer window that the Dutchman would be departing Elland Road.

It may well have taken a little longer than expected, but the Whites will have prepared a short list of targets to turn their attention to once his exit was confirmed and that appears to be exactly what has happened.

But with the new season now only a matter of days away, it would be naive to assume that Leeds will be able to easily strike deals for both Rak-Sakyi and Rowe in particular as Norwich will not want to lose a start on the eve of the campaign.

Add to that the fact that every club in the world now knows that Farke’s side has money to spend after a couple of high-profile departures and it does feel as though it could take a while for both these transfers to be completed.

There is still plenty of time left in the window so supporters don’t need to panic.

A replacement will be signed, but it could just take a little bit longer than both Farke and the fanbase would like in an ideal world.
