Leeds United transfer twist emerges after £4m+ Abdoulaye Doucoure offer

Leeds United could potentially sign in-demand Everton star Abdoulaye Doucoure in the upcoming transfer window.

The Mali international is attracting interest from Elland Road, with the midfielder playing his last game for the Toffees against Newcastle United in the Premier League on 25 May.

Doucoure’s contract at Goodison Park expires in June, and the Blues have decided against offering him a new deal, leaving the door open for the Whites to sign the 32-year-old as a free agent.

Now that the Merseyside outfit have announced the midfielder’s exit, things will undoubtedly be expected to proceed quickly with regards to his future.

Al Ettifaq to make offer for Leeds United transfer target Doucoure

Doucoure is being eyed by several teams ahead of the upcoming transfer window, and the West Yorkshire outfit are one of them, according to Africafoot.

The news outlet reports (27 May) that the 32-year-old is seeking an annual salary package of £8million, and he’s a target at Elland Road.

It’s been claimed that Al-Ettifaq are prepared to do anything to sign the midfielder, and are willing to pay him over £4m a year to sign for them, but he’s hoping for much more.

The Whites may have an opportunity to pip other teams to the signing of the Mali national if they meet his salary demands.

Daniel Farke needs new midfielder at Elland Road

Joe Rothwell joined the Whites on loan from Bournemouth last summer and has returned to the Cherries following an impressive Championship campaign.

It would make sense for the West Yorkshire outfit to pursue a permanent transfer for the English midfielder next summer, but it remains to be seen whether that’ll happen.

Josuha Guilavogui has also left Elland Road, having signed for the Peacocks on a short-term deal in October 2024 after fitness issues in LS11.

Daniel Farke must now demand additions in the engine room at Leeds, and 49ers Enterprises must deliver on their promises.

Paraag Marathe must ensure the German manager has a competitive squad next season, capable of surviving relegation from the Premier League.

The West Yorkshire outfit have finally returned to the top flight after a two-year wait and should now work on establishing themselves as a top team once again.

Ao Tanaka has been a revelation at the Whites, and Ilia Gruev has returned from his injury.

Ethan Ampadu can also play in the middle of the park, but the German manager undoubtedly needs more options now that the Peacocks have won promotion.
