Leeds United transfer twist emerges after £25m Troy Parrott development

AZ Alkmaar may have affected summer plans at Elland Road as Leeds United eye Troy Parrott in the upcoming transfer window.

Joel Piroe led the line convincingly for Daniel Farke this season, winning the Championship Golden Boot.

The ex-Swansea ace, who started his career with PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, helped the Whites win the league title.

With Patrick Bamford’s future uncertain, Parrott has emerged as a target at Elland Road, but the West Yorkshire outfit have hit a stumbling block in his pursuit.

Leeds United not willing to pay £25m to AZ for Parrott

AZ are asking for a little over £25million for Parrott amid interest from the Whites, according to De Telegraaf.

The news outlet reports (23 May) that the Elland Road hierarchy find the Dutch outfit’s demand for the Irish centre-forward too high and aren’t willing to pay it.

Parrott’s record for AZ this season.

Parrott has enjoyed a decent campaign in the Netherlands after completing a permanent move from Tottenham last summer.

While the 23-year-old has shown immense potential at AFAS Stadion, the Peacocks may be right in feeling his value is being inflated ahead of next summer.

49ers Enterprises must be sensible with transfers at Elland Road

Farke will hope that 49ers Enterprises spend money on his squad in the upcoming transfer window to give him the best chance of avoiding Premier League relegation.

In recent seasons, teams promoted to the top flight have immediately dropped back into the Championship, showcasing how difficult surviving the drop is.

Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town have been unable to cope with the rigours of the Premier League in the current campaign, and it’ll be interesting to see how the West Yorkshire outfit fare.

Leeds and Burnley sealed their return to the English top flight a few weeks back, while Sunderland beat Sheffield United in the play-offs final at Wembley on Saturday (24 May).

The Whites were the best team in the Championship, as was highlighted by their triumph, winning the league title.

There have been suggestions that Scott Parker’s style of play may be better suited to avoid relegation from the Premier League, potentially giving the Clarets an edge over the Peacocks.

Farke relies on his team’s attacking brilliance to get results, and it would make sense for the Whites to sign a prolific goalscorer to help their cause in the top flight.

Unless Parrott’s price tag goes down, the West Yorkshire outfit will probably look for someone else.
