Leeds United transfer stance shared on Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto

Leeds United are not actively looking to sell either Crysencio Summerville or Willy Gnonto this summer, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported on 3 July that the Whites see their negotiation position as “strong” now that Archie Gray has left.

However, club sources have said they are not actively looking to sell one of their attacking talents, although nothing can be ruled out at this stage.

Why keep Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto is a good move for Leeds United

Leeds’ summer transfer window has been hectic, to say the least. Gray’s £40million deal to Tottenham has now been sealed [Daily Mail, 1 July] after the club were forced into his sale.

Both Gnonto and Summerville have also been consistently linked with moves away from Elland Road [De Telegraaf, 2 July] and now even Georginio Rutter is the subject of attention for Brighton after the Seagulls had a £30m bid rejected for the Frenchman.

All this has happened despite the transfer window not yet being open for a month. However, due to the sale of Gray to Spurs, it now feels as if Leeds may have some sort of control over their talent.

A big sale needed to be made as the West Yorkshire outfit had to abide by PSR regulations, but now that move had been made, the Whites are no longer struggling.

Keeping Summerville and Gnonto is the best way forward for the club, especially if they wish to gain top-flight promotion.

Because if the pair were to depart Elland Road, they’d be fairly difficult assets to replace.
