Leeds United transfer news with Robin Koch ready to fly out to seal move
Leeds United defender Robin Koch is ready to fly to Germany to complete a move to Eintracht Frankfurt, with a medical possibly taking place in the next 48 hours, according to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg.
Koch looks set to join Frankfurt on a one-year loan deal, regardless of the fact his Leeds contract will run out at the end of the year, and will fly to Germany to complete medical tests imminently.
It is also stated that Markus Krosche, Frankfurt’s technical director, was a crucial factor in this deal going through, as he pushed for the move to take place.

The move will see Koch return to Germany, albeit on loan, after Leeds signed him from Freiburg for £15million just two years ago.
The deal suits all parties
A loan deal for Koch makes the most sense given his current situation, and despite it looking like his contract with the Yorkshire club will run out at the end of the season, it leaves the door open to a possible stay next season.
Going on loan for the year means Leeds can get his wages off the books [The Athletic, 3 July], and the club had hoped to receive a loan fee alongside this deal, but whether that was agreed is still unknown. Koch wanted to play at a level above the Championship, and a move to Frankfurt will allow him to do so.

Frankfurt have qualified for the Europa Conference League next season, meaning Koch will be playing European football while his parent club fight for promotion from the Championship.
Ultimately, it is a move that suits all parties. Leeds can clear the defender’s wages from their bill, Koch gets to play at a higher level as he desires, and Frankfurt will receive an impressive addition to their squad ahead of the new season without having to pay a transfer fee.
