Sky Sports journalist: Robin Koch in final stages to quit Leeds United permanently, almost ‘done deal’
Leeds United defender Robin Koch is close to joining Eintracht Frankfurt on a permanent deal, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports Germany reporter shared the update on his Twitter account on Sunday (7 January), adding that talks are in the final stages.
Koch, who is due to become a free agent at the end of the campaign, will apparently sign a deal with the Bundesliga side until the summer of 2027.
The Germany international has impressed on loan at Deutsche Bank Park since arriving in the summer.
No surprise
The fact Koch had just a year to run on his contract when joining Frankfurt on loan made it quite clear that his time at Elland Road was up.
Having done well on his return to Germany with Frankfurt, it was always likely that he would agree permanent terms with the club.
Due to the fact he is into the final six months of his Leeds contract, he is eligible to open talks with clubs abroad, explaining this development.

Koch was very good for Leeds at centre-back and is an eight-cap Germany international, so it is a shame no fee will be brought in for him.
From Frankfurt’s perspective, it is a steal as they have landed the defender for nothing and now have him tied down for the next three years.
Having previously been linked with some big names, it may well be that Frankfurt cash in and land a sizeable fee for Koch further down the line just to rub salt in the Leeds wounds.
