Leeds United transfer news: Rasmus Kristensen touches down in Italy ahead of Friday medical with Roma

Rasmus Kristensen is already in Rome ahead of a medical for his loan move to Roma from Leeds United, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Danish defender is set to move to Serie A after just one season at Elland Road following the club’s relegation to the Championship.

Medicals are set to take place over the weekend before a deal is finally announced, with the right-back already in Italy in preparation for finalising the deal.

“Kristensen will undergo a medical visit tomorrow ahead of his move from Leeds United to Roma,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (13 July).

“The player is already in the city,” he wrote in a separate tweet.

Expected

This one has been on the verge of taking place for a while according to reports, but it’s now edging even closer to completion.

Kristensen had a mixed first season in England after joining, initially starting well before losing his form and place in the team, before then winning it back at the end of the campaign.

Leeds United

But as an international footballer with good physical qualities and a clause in his contract, it’s not a shock that a top European team have come in for him and taken advantage of the situation that Leeds are in.

Fans won’t begrudge him of the move but also won’t be too sad to see him go as it likely means Cody Drameh will now get the ideal opportunity that he has earned to make himself the number one right-back at the club.

Leeds’ window is finally up and running with several departures this week, and now it’s time to start replacing these players so the manager isn’t left short.
