Connor Roberts on his way to Leeds United for medical as last-gasp deal agreed with Burnley
Connor Roberts is on his way to Leeds United to finalise a loan move from Burnley, according to Phil Hay.
The journalist shared via The Athletic’s live transfer blog [1 February, 12:09am] that the deal is a straight loan with no obligation to buy.
Roberts was named in the Championship Team of the Season in 2023-24, but he has seen starts limited since Burnley earned promotion to the Premier League.
“Leeds have agreed a deal to sign Connor Roberts on loan from Burnley,” Hay said.
“The right-back, who has 53 caps for Wales, is travelling for his medical ahead of a straight loan switch with no obligation to buy.”
Fair play
Leeds pulled off a few eye-catching deals in the summer and this is another that they can be proud of.
While it has been a quiet January window on the whole for the Whites, this is one of the best deals any team in the second tier has pulled off.
Roberts has been one of the Championship’s best performers in recent times and there is no reason why he cannot slot straight into Daniel Farke’s starting line-up.

The January window was always about signing players who could strengthen Farke’s preferred XI, rather than padding out the squad further.
In Roberts, Leeds have a player who directly contributed to 10 goals from defence last season and was part of the tightest backline in the division.
The deal is still not over the line just yet, but it now seems like a formality from this point in what is another transfer coup.
In other Leeds United news, further details have been shared on what Roberts makes with regards to the loan switch to Elland Road.
