Leeds United transfer news: Jack Jenkins set to exit Elland Road for fellow Yorkshire club
Jack Jenkins looks set to leave Leeds United after the club sanctioned his move to Halifax Town, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Joe Donnohue reported for the publication’s online edition on Tuesday (30 January) that Jenkins will join Halifax on loan until the summer.
The academy graduate, who made his only senior appearance during Marcelo Bielsa’s tenure, is due to become a free agent at that point.
The report adds that Jenkins is therefore “set to depart Elland Road this summer upon the expiry of his contract”.
One appearance
Jenkins has been at Leeds since for a number of years now, signing professional terms back in 2018.
Just one senior appearance has followed, though, and it makes sense to move on now that he is aged 22.
The Englishman has previously spent time on loan with Salford City and Scunthorpe United, so he does have experience at senior level.
The fact he is dropping down to non-league, however, suggests that he is not close to being ready to compete at Championship level.

United could easily have offered Jenkins a new deal before loaning him out, but that would not really be fair on the Leeds native.
Instead, Jenkins can use the next four months putting himself in the shop window ahead of signing for another team in the summer.
After making 50 appearances for the Under-21s, it is the right call for everyone involved to bring an end to his time at the club.
