Leeds United to unearth next superstar as Fabio Jalo transfer speculation emerges after wondergoal
Leeds United are one of a number of Premier League and Championship clubs in the hunt to sign Barnsley youngster Fabio Jalo, according to TEAMtalk.
The UK news outlet reported on its website on Tuesday (7 November) that Everton, Brighton and Hove Albion, Fulham and Sunderland are also showing an interest, as are Portuguese heavyweights Sporting CP.
Jalo, touted as a possible future superstar in the report, has been on Barnsley’s books since 2019 and scored his first goal at senior level in last Friday’s (3 November) FA Cup draw with Horsham – a sublime strike from outside the box that found the top-left corner.
With his contract due to be up at the end of the season, it is suggested that Barnsley may be forced to cash in on the 17-year-old in the January window if fresh terms are not agreed beforehand.
A player on the rise
If Jalo was not already on the radar of clubs beforehand, then his goal in the FA Cup first round would no doubt have put them all on alert.
The Portuguese forward has already been capped by his country at Under-18s level and is clearly a player on the rise.
Yorkshire rivals Barnsley took a gamble when signing Jalo at such a young age, but Leeds may now be ready to pounce for the teenage talent.

Should he arrive, Jalo would be the latest on a long list of superstars-in-the-making being developed by Daniel Farke at Elland Road.
The German coach has showed he is not afraid to play youngsters – just look at the overused Archie Gray – so Jalo could fit right in.
Seeing off Premier League competition would be tough, but there is a more realistic chance of the ex-Benfica ace playing regularly at Leeds.
At what you would expect to be a very low cost, this is a transfer that makes sense on the face of it.
In other Leeds United news, a former club owner has suggested 777 Partners should look to invest in a club such as the Whites, rather than Everton.
