Leicester City stance shared as Leeds United eye up Deadline Day move for Harry Souttar
Leeds United have now made an inquiry to Leicester City over the possibility of signing Harry Souttar, according to Sky Sports.
The British outlet posted via their transfer blog [1 February, 11:50am] that Leeds want to sign the defender before the window closes.
However, Leicester are said to be reluctant to loan to a Championship promotion rival unless there is an obligation to buy.
Could make sense
Leeds have been chasing a defender for the past month and it looks as though they may well land one before the transfer window closes.
Connor Roberts’ move from Burnley appears to be on course to go through, and now there are these links with Leicester’s Souttar.
The only issue is that the Australia international is a centre-back by trade, whereas Leeds could do more with bringing in a full-back right now.
Still, if the opportunity is there to bolster the heart of defence, that cannot be turned down.
While his minutes at club level have been limited, he continues to shine when given a chance and is a regular for Australia.

Indeed, Souttar was hailed as “absolutely massive” by Australia boss Graham Arnold a few months ago.
It must be remembered that Joe Rodon is set to return to Tottenham in the summer, so Souttar could easily be considered a long-term successor.
If that is the case and this is a deal with a view to the long term, then it makes sense.
